handy(wo)man at hand..
oh yeah.. today.. after lunch, through hail&rain(nah.. kidding.. it wasn't hailing or raining when i went out. but it did hail earlier in the morning at round 11) christine made her way to Mitre 10 to purchase some sealant. yeah.. parking was hell there. they only have a few parking spaces and in their sorta like front yard. so it's like all cramped up.. and i had to reverse out to let a van out. bah.. never am i parking there again. BAH!! newmarket's traffic is one of the worst! no kidding.. and cuz it's so busy and the roads there are so narrow. doesn't help when you're driving round with a fuzzy brain. think i'm sick:(. well, who i am i kidding.. i AM sick.
anyway.. the worst thing was when i was driving out of the parking area, my undercarriage whacked the curb! WHOMP! i think a guy came out to check what happened. :( so malu.. cuz i went too close to the side and you can imagine what will happen if you drive off a kerb rite? cuz there was another car to my left so i had to move to the right. fuzzy brain + situation where manouevring your car's a real brainer= dangerous situation. i think i was a tad too shaken after that. was really afraid there was petrol/something leaking out. then was so paranoid my brakes won't work.
anyway. asked a guy at mitre 10 to show me what i should use for the bathroom. so, he shows me a cilinder of silicone sealant. cool. looks like what i want.. and then he goes on to say.. "you're gonna need one of these",(to which i said "oh no.. it's getting more complicated!) and picks up a metal gun-like thing which when fitted with the cilindrical thingy looks like:
used these:
1. paper towels
2. methylated spirits
3. orange rag for drying wet surfaces
4. spatula/scraper-like thing to help achieve a 'clean finish'
5. rag(under spatula) damped with methylated spirits to clean excess sealant off.
6. cilinder containing sealant
7. the gun
8. used up paper towel.
(sorry yah.. numbers very fuzzy)
to achieve these:
notice the circled stuff called 'extra tips'. yeah.. while the guy was explainin to me what to do. and i asked how to keep the thing and he said something about sticking a nail in and pushing the thing a li'l so a bulb of sealant will form at the top. and the look of confusion on my face was probably enough for him to know that i'd probably screw things up. therefore, he gave me to extra tips just in case. heh heh heh..
sis and bf were saying how i could maybe take this up as a full time job. and i replied "in your dreams!! i'd rather work in a lab than do this!!" geez.. me?? as a handy(wo)man??? goodness..and everything will fall apart..
