yeah.. you're right. STD as in sexually transmitted disease.
i DID NOT need to see photos of the infected male and female genitals.
i DID NOT need to know how genital warts on males and females look like.
i DID NOT need to see pus oozing out of the male and females urethras(piss holes)
i DID NOT need to have seen the visual images of what i read about yesterday. words were enough to give me nightmares. pictures paint a thousand words. but words were already more than enough. what more pictures that paint a thousand words.
if all else fails.. and ppl are stupid enough to have unprotected sex exposing them to STDS, for crying out loud ppl.. just show them pics of infected patients. pictures DO paint a thousand words.
THINGS I LEARNT FROM LAB TODAY:
the female contraceptive, diaphragm, is custom made for each individual. therefore, you ladies out there can't use your mama's diaphragm(god forbid that i should ever stumble upon my mum's!or the thought of her having one. oh crap..)but you'd have to go see a gynae to get one for yourself. and yes.. you re-use it.
for you ppl who didn't know.. when men undergo vasectomy(you cut &tie up the tubes connecting the testis to the penis to ensure sterility), they do still ejaculate. yes.. they still have that fluid thingy. but it's just that they ain't no sperms in them. surprises me how quite a few ppl thought that once a male undergoes vasectomy, he is incapable of ejaculating stuff out. heh..
some guys are rather amazed at how a diaphragm can fit into a woman.
my knowledge on contraceptives ain't so bad after all. i actually know quite a bit. heh.. must be all those years of bio.
if you don't know the answer to a question in your test. lady luck can be with you. just pick the answer with the least amount of sniggers from your fellow lab counterparts. don't know what i'm talking about? i'll tell you when your lab's done.
do i consider myself lucky that i've been able to touch a diaphragm, condom, IUD, a real human brain, a real dead rat, the insides of a rat, massacring the rat, looked at rat ovaries&testis? should i feel priviledged that i've seen how STD bacteria/yeast/viruses look like and seen the destruction on the genitals? i guess i am.. not many ppl get to do what i've done.(thinking on the bright side...)and guess what? there's more to come!:P next up on the table, sheep's heart. yum?
