wedding fiasco...
hmm.. the whole afternoon today was spent pretty much in oblivion. really.. i awoke at 1.. and then had my lunch after talking to my 2nd sis on the phone a while. then i made my way upstairs and spent a li'l time on the comp but had to stop as there was lightning and thunder. so.. i fell asleep again at 4.. yes.. even though i woke up at 1. what a pig eh? woke up at 5.. and finally did something productive.. play the piano. heh heh heh..
anyway.. got ready to go for a wedding of my dad's fren's(business associate/partner) son's. it was threatening to rain again.. for the first time it was all just thunder and lightning but no rain. but this time it really did rain. like right about when me and my parents stepped out the door. bummer.. but nonetheless.. managed to get into the car just as the rain was beginning to fall.. hah.. beat 'ya! :P but anyhoo.. the wedding itself is what i would like to call one big.. circus? nah.. not that bad lar.. hehe..
well, yeah.. got there at about 10 past 7. and the wedding was supposed to be at 7 sharp. but oh well.. it's ok.. it's m'sian time.. so we waited for about an hour.. watching this video of the wedding couple's registration in perth, ozzie(that's where they're living i think..) that was repeated over and over and over again.. ok.. was damn hungry.on the brink of gastric. eat up the fruit cake that's supposedly to be brought home.haha.. we were served wine.. and my mum was kinda dissatisfied with the wine glasses b'cuz they were quite dirty. mine too.. got them changed. and well, my mum's rants kinda reminded me of what ml told me about his experiences working as a waiter for banquets in ballrooms. about how once when he was supposed to get cutlery for the diners. he opened this drawer containing the cutlery and out ran a lot of li'l baby cockroaches(nymphas isit?) EGAD... told my mum that story. i think i kinda made her a li'l paranoid.. and then told my dad.. and dunno what his reaction was tho.. ah heck.. no choice rite?still have to use the cutlery rite? if not use my hands ar? haha.. so i smsed ml and asked him which hotel was it that he was referin to.. and he told me it was the one i was in! egad.. but then he said something that somewhat KIND OF relieved me a li'l.. asked me whether it was a chinese set menu.. caused the chopsticks and all are not too bad.. (phew!) anyway.. back to the wedding dinner...
just before the bridal party made their grand entrance into the ballroom, the were showing the clip(quite popular nowadays eh?) of the wedding couple from when they were babies till now.. quite interesting.. er.. yah.. but anyway.. in came the bridal party consisting of the grandparents of the groom, the fathers and the mothers, siblings, brides maid and best man and of course, the couple themselves. the event planners were tryin to make it a real grand entrance.. they had dry ice in buckets and tried making a smoky ambience.. but really.. there just wasn't enough smoke.. and i have no idea why didn't they start soaking the ice in water earlier.. at least the smoke will accumulate and will be thicker.. hahaha.. and there was this guy with this bubble maker thingy that was walking behind the couple blowing bubbles on them.. well, it would have worked.. if it were a bigger contraption that gave out more bubbles.. he just looked like a kid with a bubble gun horsing around.. like shooting them from the back with a bubble gun.. heheheh... ok.. that's not the end of it.. there was the 'presentation of food'.. hmm.. just before that.. they had a special presentation onstage. i just don't know how to explain it.. but it had something to do with neon backgrounds and a glow in the dark figure of a groom and another of a bride moving towards each other and kissing(they of course dimmed/ switched off the lights for the glow in the dark effect).. and there was somebody makin 'em smoochin sounds. er.. cheesy? waiters then came out with the first dish with a candle litted up and lined up in a row. well.. ok.. that wasn't too cheesy lar.. haha...
during dinner, we were entertained by 2 musicians and this emcee cum singer who wasn't exactly very good at singing.. egad. the serving of food came to a standstill after the 3rd or 4th dish.. that's when the 2 emcees started telling us the love story of the couple. oh goodness. worse than grandmother's story lar.. *snore*... too long winded and draggy.. and what made it worse? one emcee spoke in english.. then the other lady emcee would speak in mandarin.. and the joke was that both the english and mandarin versions of their love story were totally different.. hahahaha... what a joke. after that was the popping of champagne and the cutting of the cake.. one just has to wonder why did they stop serving the food.. sigh.. they had popping streamers(imagine the small version which you pull the string and streamers come out.. well.. this was the BIG version of that). the bride also tossed her bouquet. i hoever stayed put in my seat. heh heh.. nola.. too malu to go up. hehe.. tasted a sprite that's very suitable for diabetics.. one which was extremely tasteless and flat.. totally.. it was sooo diluted thanks to all the ice that was in it that it came out so.. the pepsi was ALMOST like that.. but thank goodness not so bad.. but still.. i don't like pepsi.. haha.. well, all in all.. i didn't exactly totally waste my time there today.. received an overdue ang pau(yes.. CNY's over but still get.. hahahhaa) that was sufficiently BIG enough to make my day.. haha.. well, it was pretty entertaining.. kinda reminds me of this other wedding that i've been to that was really like a big chinese charity event. complete with students selling raffle tickets and a chinese opera band on stage. yup.. 100 tables i do blieve. it was held in a chinese association hall. really like market oni lar.. haha.. oh well.. that's it for now. sorry lar.. a bit long winded today.. oops..
