This is going to be an interesting one..
A few matters for me to blog about today.
1) There are just certain expectations of the public which well, may sound reasonable but logically, cannot really be met.
This week alone, I have had one person whom I have had to spend a lot of time dealing with over what would have been deemed a low level matter.
It was difficult talking to this person as the person was very emotional. In our first conversation, I spent 40 mins trying to 'help'. Well, I did try to help.. but it was difficult as I just can't seem to tell what the person wants. Serious allegations were made by this person. Yet, the person had no proof. Still, we were willing to take it on and bring it to the right authorities.
Today, I had to talk to this person again and yeah.. it didn't end well. I think the person hung up on me when the person requested to speak to a person of a certain origin. I did get another person in the office to try and help.. but when she answered the phone, the line was dead.
Now, with this person, there was one query which I found very difficult to answer professionally.
The question put forward was, "How come you can still have people selling sub-standard food in a first world something something country?"
No doubt, there was one clear answer in my mind, yet.. it does sound rather insufficient in a way. One does have to bear in mind that we are all only human and need to work within reason.
I have the belief that no matter what country you are in, be it a first world or what not, you will ALWAYS have dodgy operators out and about.. That, is why sub-standard food is sold in a first-world country.
Take for example, the USofA. Watching that Gordon Ramsay show where he went about helping restaurants, if I remember correctly, most of these restaurants had shocking food safety practices! So, if a first world country like the USA can have such dodgy operators, well, who's to say that NZ can't have them? Yes, we may have strict laws and such.. However, we have such limited resources to police such problems. Our surveillance relies heavily on complaints that filters in as well as the responsibility of the councils to take care of them! It doesn't mean that we turn a blind eye on them but it is only cause we are working to our best capacity. If you do have beef, well, make that beef known. If you think that we're not doing enough because of our limited resources, well, make the govt. budget more on things like food safety then.
Really, people forget that we are only human sometimes and all humans make mistakes. It really irritated me the way he implied that I thought it was alright for an organisation to employ people who makes mistakes. Well, I really wanted to ask him if he had never made a mistake in his life!
I'm glad he hung up. I don't have the responsibility to help him any further then as I have time after time offered to help but was only responded to with accusations and rude behaviour.
Heh.. boy, I really love my jobs sometimes..
2) Work again... I don't like dealing with people who make things so bureaucratic.. Sigh.. I get nervous because I don't want to cause some major break down in relationships or create a real ruckus :( I feel real stressed out cause of that.
3) Here's the really funny bit.. It's so hilarious that I don't know how la.. Could it only happen to me?
You know.. there's nothing worse than being all alone in a mall toilet after the mall has closed. When it's totally empty and all. Freaky enough ya? Couldn't get worse hor?
Well, I think I just learnt that it can T.T.... Oo.. I had a bad feeling about that already but what to do.. I was desperate.
What happened?
The lights went off...
Pitch. blackness.
ABSOLUTE.....
The toilet, being one that was totally inside the building had no external windows or any way for any light to filter in. You know how after a while your eyes adjust to the darkness? Well, there was NOTHING.. BLACK.
You know what's the best thing?
When it happens while you are sitting on the potty.
The lampu tutup semasa you tengah pang sai cause your perut tak begitu selesa....
PURE panic...
Some more my bag was hanging on the door and it was quite far away so I couldn't fumble for my mobile phone.
Thank GOD I didn't start screaming and panicking hard core.. Fine.. I did scream for Matt.
THANK GOD for my boyfriend who accompanied me to the toilets came and saved the damsel on the potty... Although it took longer than I was comfortable with..
And you know what the brilliant thing was?
The lights could not be turned back on cause EVERYTHING is bloody computerised! FARKING RIDICULOUS.........
THIS my friends, is why automated computerised EVERYTHING is NOT the BEST thing.
What's worse when you're a person who's scared of the dark and has an absolutely WILD imagination... But all good, my bf came save the day with a torchlight from the security guard.
And that.. my friends.. wraps up today's news.
