rat carcass stinks..
ugh.. it's got this sour-ish smell.. and some sort of gross out stink that cannot be described.. aiieee>.<.. i picked up a tray containing a rat. as i was walking towards my place. i noticed.. mmm.. my rat's backside very swollen like that. like red red oni. and then there was faeces(poo/shit) sticking outta of its backside.. aiiieeee>.<.. when you dissect the rat.. its backside should be facing you. but everytime that happened.. UGHHHhhh... the SMELL!!!!even b4 i cut it open the smell was already getting to me. the worst thing on the rat? its tail.. it's like.. a worm!
okay.. so i'm being very girly by complaining so much. but hey.. i dissected it in the end right? even though i felt like i was about to chuck/hurl/puke & had a slight headache from the awful smell. no kidding. felt kinda dizzy. blah.. stinking stink. oh by the way.. the swollen backside.. it's not the backside/buttocks at all. i got a male rate. therefore.. those 2 red lobules were its testis. right.
rat was lying on its side. i had to lay it flat out on my dish.. and flatten it a li'l so it's easier to cut. right. i was really apprehensive about touching it at first. but then i got used to it. and at first.. i was just using my index finger and thumb gingerly lifting its limbs and flattening it out. ugh.. felt so weird. so soft. but it was dead... :( didn't think it wise to press it too hard. cuz the thing might have gas in it that might be expelled through umm.. its anus. therefore causing an even worst stink than there already was. but that was kinda a stupid theory. wasn't ready for test at the end of the lab. we're assessed by a short CLOSED BOOK test. 10 multichoice q's. die. >.<. didn't see that coming.
amazing how those lab demonstrators are so used to the smell. they just stick their face damn close to the rat looking for the organs. and me, keeping my face as far away as possible to not smell the horrible smell. we even had to cut the side of the mouth to get to the inside of the rat's mouth. ugh.. and the way the demonstrators push and prod at the organs. and to think i was so afraid to even lift the organs in fear of bursting something.. yeesh.. learnt from today's dissection: i got a real FATTY rat. that has huge organs. huge intestines. huge bladder filled with urine, huge colon that's full of faeces. hahah.. wondered what would've happened if i had pressed the colon.. kekekkee..
first day of uni was okay. spent a lot of the time wondering what i was doing in uni. was so tired i fell asleep in every class of mine. yeesh. first day back and already sleeping? will resolve to stay awake. thank goodness my frens kept waking me up to copy notes. specially sherry and amy!! heheh.. need to stay awake! sigh.. feeling extremely grossed out. i think.. no more anatomy for me next year. boy.. this semester sure is gonna be a learning experience for me. chem starting to sound real boring. so's humanbio 142. biosci 106 faring no better. goodness me.. what am i doing studying these subjects??! ARGHH!!!
