so yeah..

I just realised, that not a lot of ppl know how to handle a depressed person. NOt to say that I'm really good at it. But.. I mean, I did go through a stage of total depressiveness and being just so.. upset all the time. I think it happens annually to me. I don't know why. Who knows? My annual hormonal cycle maybe?

But what I realised is that, when I was depressed, I knew that I was complaining too much. And I knew that I was moaning too much. But I just couldn't really stop. Because everytime I came out of it something came along to push me down again.

I don't know. I mean.. there were those ppl who were okay. And they listened. Didn't make any comment and just remained neutral. Well, it was better than those who, well, maybe meant well but kinda just ended up doing more harm than good.

I mean, yes. To advise in a gentle manner and to tell them, "Honey.. you need to cheer up else you'll risk being like this the rest of your life. I know it's hard, and it takes time. But trust me. There is seriously more to it than this. So lighten up and maybe you might be happier." Instead of going "Stop complaining. That's life." A few words of comfort goes a long way.

Seriously, it ain't no use telling a depressed person to 'cheer up' and stop whining. I mean. Just made me feel worse. NOt only was I depressed, I had to make sure that I was not annoying anyone. I had to pick the ppl whom I could talk to. Force myself to cheer up. And kinda improve the mood on my blog posts. Even though I was feeling crap.

But oh well, I managed to get out of that phase. Back on track(hopefully. hehehe) and moving on with life till my next down cycle(God forbid that it'll ever come along).

But advice to those with depressed friends. Just listen even if you have no advise to dispense. Don't ever tell a person that they're annoying you. And offer whatever you can within your limitations instead of making empty promises and end up letting your friend down more.
