You know, the really frustrating thing about doing Food Science in the uni I did, it was the lack of association it had with the industry.
You see, problems included now when I am trying to look for a job in the product development field include:
1) my lack of involvement/experience gained from the industy.
2) preference for employers to hire Massey university students (in particular Palmy ones apparently)
3) lack of push to make our course known to people in industry.
And if i dare say, well, the not so good image sometimes from certain department membes.
One thing that a friend and mentor once mentioned was that it isn't that students from our uni was any less experienced and creative than Massey students. Recently, a television show, Campbell Live, did a thing on Massey Uni's pilot plant. They highlighted a project which included ice-cream made with omega-3 in it. Which honestly, was something that was already done.. LAST YEAR by 3rd stage students already. Yeah, so.. really.. it's not like my uni is that much worse.. it's just.. we simply haven't had the 'push' for fame.
Well, that's just a thought I had anyway.
I guess I'm just a tad frustrated atm... trallala..
